Leon Ducrot

Leon is Managing Director of CALD Enterprises and has extensive experience in mechanical engineering.  

Before establishing CALD Enterprises, Leon spent over 10 years working overseas in management positions with multinational oil and gas and mining companies working in difficult, high risk environments.  Managing specialist teams of engineers, Leon was responsible for ensuring that projects came in on time, on budget and were completed to the highest international standards.  

In delivering these outcomes, the highest priority was placed on safety and the efficiency and productivity of the end product.  These experiences have given Leon invaluable cutting edge knowledge and skills in the management of large scale projects with focuses on productivity, safety and the triple bottom line (financial, social and environmental). 

Prior to working overseas, Leon worked with various companies across New Zealand, including as a mechanical engineering tutor for NorthTec, a Northland tertiary provider. Leon is also involved in research and development projects, farming and creative metal work such as metal sculptures and using traditional techniques to make authentic armour.

Leon is a fully qualified Boiler Maker and a welding supervisor and has a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and dual trade certificates in heavy and light fabrication. 

Carla Dobbyn

Carla is Corporate and Communications Manager at CALD Enterprises.  Prior to this role she worked for over 10 years in the Australian Public Service in executive management positions with responsibility for a range of areas including human resources, contract management, refugee settlement programs and case management services. 

Carla has also been involved with a number of charities and is passionate about the power of education.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Public Relations) and is currently studying to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources Management at Deakin University. 

Louis Ducrot

Louis is CALD’s Northland Workshop Manager and is a fully qualified mechanical fitter with over 50 years’ experience. 

As Leon’s Dad, Louis is responsible for Leon’s love of engineering, and brings with him a wealth of knowledge around all things mechanical engineering, while specialising in marine engineering. 

He holds a Level Four National Certificate in pre-hospital care and worked voluntarily as an ambulance officer, reflecting his ongoing and active interest in health and safety.
